Somerville House Boarding Annex
Louvreclad delivers a comprehensive turnkey louvre & sun screen package
Louvreclad have a long-standing working relationship with Somerville house having now completed work on several stages of development across this prestigious private girls’ school. The Boarding Annex stage was an exciting design and construct project, which Bickerton master’s architects specified Sun Screening Louvres and window hoods from the Caprice Series®, batten screens from the Barossa Series®, large Windsor Series® louvred screens and mechanical louvres from our Orion Series®
A key feature of the façade is the large Windsor Series® elliptical louvre screens that span across six stories of the building on the north and west facades. The elliptical blades have been installed on a 45-degree angle to offer protection from direct sun while maximising natural light. Adjacent to these screens and contrasting the Windsor elliptical blades are large expanses of Barossa Series powder coated aluminium 100x50mm RHS screens with expressed mid-rail supports to add to the texture of the building’s facade. The Rooftop mechanical plant was then screened utilizing the Orion Series louvre which is a good industry standard 65mm pitch single bank louvre allowing for good air-flow and some rain defence.

Overall this is a great example of Louvreclad’s capability to offer a comprehensive design, engineer, manufacture, supply and install package with the project being delivered on time to achieve the premium aesthetic finish and meet the requirements of the brief set out for this elite Brisbane School.
