Custom folded and fabricated perforated aluminium screens
From the outset, natural ventilation and solar control were identified as critical to the building’s overall performance. Architectus engaged Louvreclad early in the design process with very specific requirements for the louvres to ensure airflow efficiency, weather protection, and visual consistency.
Yosuke from Architectus specified Class A 100% effective rain-resistant louvres for the enclosed section of the rooftop plant room, alongside a less rain-resistant system for the open plant deck. Because these areas were visually connected, achieving a seamless external appearance was essential. Louvreclad recommended the Kensington Series® Rain Resistant Louvres in combination with the Ellenborough Series® Chevron Louvres. With identical pitch and profile, both systems integrate effortlessly as a continuous vertical screen while meeting distinct ventilation and rain-resistance requirements.
Importantly, Louvreclad’s Kensington Series® has been tested to maintain Class A rain resistance even in vertical orientation — ensuring natural ventilation and reliable weather protection for sensitive rooftop services. Together, the Kensington and Ellenborough systems enabled privacy, efficient airflow, and durable screening that safeguards building performance.
Solar shading was equally vital in reducing direct solar gain and enhancing occupant comfort. To address this, Polaris Series® Perforated Metal Screens were introduced with a pearl white powder coat finish. These custom folded aluminium screens deliver controlled daylight, reduce heat loads on the façade, and provide additional privacy, all while articulating the architecture with a refined, modern aesthetic.
By combining advanced natural ventilation strategies with effective solar shading, Louvreclad delivered a cohesive, durable, and low-maintenance envelope that not only protects and optimises building operations but also elevates the architectural expression of Robina’s newest landmark commercial building.
