Gallery House, Portside QLD

Louvreclad worked closely with Cottee Parker architects at design stage to design and detail a custom Caprice Series® vertical sun blade solution.  Unique to the design was the inclusion of a new 110mm chamfer end cap that was designed and cut especially for the project. Gallery House provides impressive absolute riverfront residence and retail destination which has been designed to,   “interpret and reflect the calm yet dynamic nature of the Brisbane River,…The designs delivered work to ensure the building reflects its surroundings by responding to the natural beauty of the river and the dynamic mountain ranges beyond.”

As a fully documented job, Multiplex endeavoured to maintain the quality of this iconic project by sticking to the specification and getting Louvreclad on board.

Louvreclad Caprice Series 577mm deep chamfer blades run vertically up west and east elevations to provide the necessary sun protection.  These large vertical blades are broken up into 3m sections and fixed to the structure with a custom fabricated end plate / spigot connection. This bespoke connection detail allows for thermal expansion and slab deflection, while providing the required 45º tilt of the blade, and fitting discretely behind the sun blade to maintain the continuous louvre aesthetic. Custom stillages were also fabricated for the job to assist with crane lifts to each level and ensure a quick and easy installation. Louvreclad’ s first project collaboration with Multiplex in QLD, which proved to be a worthwhile partnership that we look forward to developing into the future. Overall, a highly successful project which ran smoothly from start to finish.
