Roma Hospital, QLD

Roma Hospital Redevelopment

The recent redevelopment of Roma Hospital with Watpac Construction called for performance louvres and bespoke architectural 3D perforated screens. Bernhard Hoessler from Jacobs Architects was the key façade designer on this new state of the art facility and began discussions with Louvreclad at early design stage. The specification was tight, with each plant area of the facility requiring very specific air flow, pressure drop and rain defence performance.

Louvreclad appreciate a well thought through specification like this.

Our team thoroughly enjoyed working with Bernhard and appreciate the amount of thought and attention to detail he has given to the louvre and screen design and specification. When design air flow rates, maximum pressure drop and rain defence classifications are clearly specified, we can quickly get to work on the aerodynamic and rain defence calculations to ensure the right louvre profiles are selected and the project specific performance requirements are met. Nexus Series® Single Stage is ideal for commercial building applications where high-quality aluminium louvres with industry standard aerodynamic and rain defence performance are required. On this Hospital, a combination of Louvreclad Nexus Series® Single Stage and 2 Stage louvres were selected to meet the screening requirements.  Louvre doors were also integrated into the screens with the Nexus Series 2-stage louvre providing Class A 100 % rain defence where required whilst maintaining a consistent exterior aesthetic. Louvreclad Kensington Series® and Louvreclad Neptune Series® were also selected for other louvre doors required on the project. The Kensington Series storm-proof louvre profile was utilised where Class A 100% rain defence was needed, while the Neptune series provided a slimmer profile and Class 1 Aerodynamics. Louvreclad Polaris Series® 3D Armour Scale was selected to feature as vertical 3D perforated screens installed across the façade of the building.  Powder coated in five different custom Interpon colours, all of which were allocated project specific names including Roma Green Matt, Roma Mint Satin, Roma Pink Satin, Roma Violet Intense Matt & Roma Red Satin. These bespoke 3D screens bring colour and texture to the design, enhancing the façade even further.
